Pinellas County, FL  is a peninsula bordered by the Gulf of Mexico on the west and by Tampa Bay on the east. The county is 38 miles long and 15 miles wide at its broadest point. Its land area covers approximately 264 square miles.


The growth of Pinellas County, FL has been steady but with its share of ups and downs. The euphoria of boom times was frequently interrupted with the reality of "busts"-the stock market crash and depressions, hurricanes, wars, and over-speculation. The years after World War II brought thousands of new residents attracted by Florida's reputation as a tropical paradise and its promise of new opportunities. Pinellas County has grown steadily over the years. Its population estimate in 2010 was 909,013  Pinellas County has the highest population density. I think this says it all. The Town of Belleair, Florida is a municipality located in the southern most part of Northern Pinellas County on Florida's west coast, bordered on the north by the City of Clearwater, on the east, by the City of Largo, on the south, by the city of Belleair Bluffs, and on its west, by Clearwater Harbor and barrier islands that contain some of the best beaches in the state.

The town government is a council-manager form of  government, consisting of a town council of five elected officials, one of whom serves as mayor, and an appointed manager.  The council and mayor serve as the legislative or policy making body for the town government, approve its annual budget, and all the local laws and ordinances that define how the town operates. The day-to-day administration of the town is the responsibility of the town manager and his/her staff, who implement town policies and deliver services to the residents.

The Town of Belleair is a residential community of approximately 4,100 people, containing the historic Belleview Biltmore hotel, three eighteen hole golf courses, and several commercial businesses and professional offices.  The purpose of this web site is to provide our residents and other site visitors from around the country and world with information about our community and its government, and  to facilitate the delivery of the various public services offered by the town.

BELLEAIR BEACH 

Belleair Beach maintains a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere providing all the advantages of waterfront living. Government: City Manager-Council form of government. Council is comprised of the Mayor and 6 council members (total of 7 sit on council), who are elected to two-year staggered terms. The City Manager is the municipality’s chief executive officer.

BELLEAIR BLUFFS

 Belleair Bluffs is still just under ¾ of a square mile in size and is almost completely built-out with 2200 inhabitants. Located just to east of Belleair Beach and south of Belleair neighboring Largo and the Intracoastal waters. The city is made up of 200 businesses - commercial and professional - as well as 540 single-family homes, 320 apartments and 650 condominium units. The community provides for its residents a wide range of living choices and a shopping capability which, while small, serves the needs of both the City and its neighboring communities being one of the gateways to the Gulf beaches.

CLEARWATER

Clearwater is situated on the Pinellas County peninsula, midway on Florida’s west coast and on the highest coastal bluff in Florida. It is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico on the west and Tampa Bay on the east. 

  As  As of 2010, there were 59,156 households out of which 19.5% were vacant. As of 2000, 21.7% of households had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.7% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.4% were non-families. 35.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.79.

In 2000, the city's population was spread out with 19.1% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 21.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.8 males.

As of 2000, the median income for a household in the city was $36,494, and the median income for a family was $46,228. Males had a median income of $31,067 versus $25,066 for females. The   per capita income   for the city was $22,786.
